Hi,

Here is the freeware Keylight toggle (MANY thanks to Malatesta for the patient testing  wink)

Simply install the CAB file - then each time you activate the program the keyboard light will go from ON to OFF and remain in that state until you toggle it again (regardless of soft-resets).

There are also command-line options:

   -OFF  -0    Disable backlight
   -v             Display version info.
   -ON   -1    Activate backlight

Feel free to let me know what you think and any suggestions for a future update

ANY USERS WITH Treo 700v ??  Need some help to add support for this device!! Email "support AT pocketmax.net"

* Installer.zip (2.75 KB - downloaded 2546 times.)

Do I need to reset the device to apply the changes?
I installed the Cab on the device (Treo 750v) and got the new KeyLight application icon.

I run it (and run it again) and the keyboard lights stay on (or turn back on when I press any-key).

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

Bruce, could you take this wonderful yet simple keylight application and make the keyboard light blink rapidly like the LED notification that phone alarm has to offer, somehow integrate it with the LED notification when a message arrives?

For example, two blinks would be email, 3 blinks sms...etc with repeating options of course... would be very cool add on to an already awesome phonealarm product!

Hi,

Would certainly be easy wink - but is an expensive (from power!) alarm method!  One LED doesn't use much power (but still measurable), but lighting up 36(?) LEDs repeatedly could reduce standby battery life by 50% or more!!

Hi,

This has only been tested on the Treo 700w / 700wx.
Send me an email and will look into what is needed for the 700v   -  email to "support AT pocketmax.net"

Absolutely awesome utility.  Makes me glad I bought PA so I could support your efforts!

BTW, 1.56 rocks on the Treo 700wx, as does this utility.  The combo makes me enjoy my device just that much more.

One suggestion for future versions (that you could easily dffcharge $5 for...)  On the Treo, the side button under the volume buttons can normally only be programmed for the "press and hold" function.  Using AE Button Plus I was able to assign Treo Keylight to a single quick press of the side button, which you normally cannot do.  The oft-mentioned Treo 650 utility that turns off the lights has this key mapping built in.  Many people probably do not have AE Button Plus to provide this key functionality, and for someone as talented as yourself it should be no effort whatsoever Smiley  Just a suggestion to make a great product, well, greater.

Thanks again!

Hi,

Button Mapping is easy (buttonMax will natrurally support this when it's FINALLY released!) - but you don't want to many button mappers running as they then fight with each other for control!!

In freeware version I certainly wouldn't add it - and think it is better to leave this as freeware  grin and direct users to one of the other products that support this.
